The forecast calls for temperatures hovering around 70 and a chance of rain both Saturday and Sunday. We’ll get back to temperatures in the low 80s next week.

  • ABOUT: Backyard Bard (a program by GreenStage) brings Shakespeare to small parks around Seattle in 45 minute, four-actor, family-oriented performances.

SATURDAY, July 25

• The Roosevelt Neighborhood Bull Moose Festival and Land Use Academy 
  • ABOUT: The annual festival features food, music and fun including a free pancake breakfast, dog contest, moose call contest, and dance exhibition. This year the festival will also feature the Roosevelt Neighborhood Association coordinated Land Use Academy: “This session, Roosevelt 101, is planned as an informative, educational session for neighborhood residents and stakeholders. There will be opportunity for Q&A, but this session is not intended for in-depth public comment. Subsequent sessions will explicitly encourage community comments and input.” The session agenda can be found here.

• Science on Tap at Ravenna Third Place Pub 
  • ABOUT: ALS and Alzheimer’s: two different diseases, one common mechanism of progression with Laura Taylor, UW Department of Medicine, Gerontology Division. Science on Tap is a forum for exploring the latest ideas in science and technology in a relaxed atmosphere with local scientists.

• “Bad Movie” showing at the Seattle Public Library’s University Branch: Troll 2

THURSDAY, July 30

• Outdoor Movies at Magnuson Park: Zoolander 
  • ABOUT: Movies on a big screen, live entertainment, trivia, and food trucks on Thursdays evenings from July 9 – Aug. 27, 2015. Bring your own lawn chair or blanket and event is dog friendly.
  • DETAILS: Magnuson Park (grass athletic fields), 7400 Sand Point Way NE. Doors open at 7 PM, movie starts at dusk. $5 per person. Kids 5 and under are free.

• 80 Days of Summer at the Burke Museum of Natural History
  • ABOUT: Summer activities planned around a weekly theme include a scavenger hunt, craft, and guess the content of a “mystery box.”  The theme for July 25-31 is “Boat Week.”
  • DETAILS: The Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture, UW Campus at 17th Ave. NE and NE 45th St. Open daily, 10 AM-5 PM. Activities included with museum admission, $7.50-10.
